Crew Pet of the Week- Oct 11th

As you know, the Bow Wow Brunch is quickly approaching! so welcome the newest member of our CREW PET OF THE WEEK!

Julie Muldoon, Public Cruise Manager, shared this story with us about her dog "Luna".

I was approached by one of my good friends that had told me her neighbor was looking for someone to give her new black lab puppy to. The neighbor didn't think the dog would be a good fit for her family because the puppy wasn't getting along with the kids. My friend knew we were interested in owning a dog and so approached me about the situation.

That little black lab puppy that didn't get along with children, is now apart of our new family. This picture was taken one year later.

Obviously, this Hornblower Crew Pet of the Week earned her spot! Babies and Dogs are our favorite!

Crew Pet of the Week for Oct 4th

This Weeks Crew Pet of the Week goes to Hornblower Server and Bartender, Anna Lynn.  Anna says "Dottie is my little sunshine."  She is super playful and curious,  but has the best manners when we go out with other dogs or humans. She is so sweet. She always follows me around the house just to stay close to me. I rescued her as a puppy, and I knew she was mine as soon as I held her. Anna is happy to admit,  "Some things are just meant to be!"

Crew "Pet of the Week for 9/27"

Crew "Pet of the Week" goes to Jillian Vandagriff, Group Sales Manager:  Eric and I decided that we wanted a dog and we both felt strongly that we would find one to adopt from a rescue. We went to a few rescue events and didn't really find anyone that we connected too or felt that they were "our dog". That all changed after I convinced him to go up to Helen Woodward early one day. We got there shortly after they opened and took a walk around. All of a sudden as we walked by a kennel that held 4 month old “Aleena”, Eric felt these little paws around his calf. Aleena had reached out and given his leg a hug. The volunteer asked us if we wanted to go in a take a look, we walked into the kennel and she jumped into his arms. I asked him if we needed to look anymore and he said "no, she found us!" An hour later we were taking her home and we named her Maggie. She has been such a joy to us and we can’t imagine our life or family without her in it. (Submitted by Jillian Vandagriff with huge thanks for her support of Pet Day on the Bay and the PR efforts!

Crew "Pet of the Month"

Hornblower San Diego, Senior Sales Manager, Jackie Campbell always jokes that her dog Peanut is the “Best $25 I have ever spent”.  One Saturday morning, she quietly made her way to the County Animal Shelter in hopes of saving a dog and adding enjoyment to her life.  As she waked the halls of the shelter, she wished she could take all the dogs home. Jackie came across a few dogs that fit her needs and spent some time with each of them to see if they connected. "Jasmine" was an 11-pound Dachshund mix that that wanted to explore rather than connect with Jackie. After a few minutes, she said to the shelter volunteer, “maybe she is not the dog for me”… Jackie took a seat on the bench feeling conflicted when out of nowhere “Jasmine” jumped on the bench and into Jackie’s arms. It sealed the deal and Jackie took her home an hour later. Jackie renames her new dog, Peanut. Jackie says, “She has made my life joyful with her silly noise, adorable faces and complete dedication. I am her human mother and she is my fur-child!  I couldn’t be happier and I'm pretty sure she couldn’t be either!”
Join Peanut and the Hornblower Crew at Bow Wow Brunch Cruise on Oct. 20th from 11:30am -2pm. Click for more info and reservations.

Bow Wow Brunch Cruise on the Bay takes place Oct. 20
Hornblower invites dogs aboard for HWAC benefit cruise

Hornblower Cruises & Events will again host a dog-gone fun adventure on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013: The Fifth annual Bow Wow Brunch Cruise on the Bay is the year’s only dog-friendly dining cruise on San Diego Bay, and it raises funds for the orphaned pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center.

The popular Bow Wow Brunch Cruise follows Hornblower’s traditional Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruise format, except that pet owners are invited to board with dogs for a one-of-a-kind journey. Owners enjoy a generous brunch buffet plus free-flowing champagne, mimosas and desserts – meanwhile, participating pups are treated to snacks at a special canine buffet, along with take-away doggie bags filled with products from Petco. A portion of event proceeds will benefit Helen Woodward Animal Center, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people. For more than 30 years, the center has provided humane care and adoption for orphaned animals, along with animal-related educational programs.
One dog per adult is invited on the Bow Wow Brunch Cruise. Dogs must be manageable and on a leash at all times. Boarding begins at 11:30 a.m. at Hornblower’s Grape Street Pier, 1800 N. “Hornblower is proud to partner with Helen Woodward Animal Center and our Pet Day on the Bay sponsors,” adds Rebecca Milkey, Hornblower director of marketing. “This event is just one way we can support those doing important work in our community, providing not only resources for animals in need but also entertainment for our guests.”
